We have long considered which manufacturer to choose for our truck, taking into account price, quality, availability of spare parts and the space within the cab. We've seen many trucks and finally we came across this Iveco from a local Swiss fire department. Although Iveco was not the first brand on our list, the state of this truck, the wheel base, upgradable to Euro-4, the size of the cab and its height, the 240PS engine and the meticulous state, convinced us that this was the right choice. The Iveco Eurocargo is really world-wide success and spare parts shouldn't be a problem. On top of that, it has only 13.000km on the clock!
The truck was build in 1997 by company Magirus as a heavy-duty rescue and technical support vehicle. This vehicle was a RW2 which stands for " Rüstwagen 2" and had a tail lift which provided access to the walk-in equipment room at the rear side. As many as four wheeled containers could be stored, containing various parts, tools and equipment depending on its mission.
In order to make it ready for the cabin to be mounted onto the chassis, the existing fire and rescue equipment needs to dismantled and the chassis needs to be restored and refurbished for its new purpose. Besides the technical work, this includes additional fuel tanks, new wheels, and new painting.
Also the interior of the truck needs some refurbishment, such as new seats and upholstery of door panels and dashboard. Also additional gauges for the fuel tanks will be installed and interior lightning will be renewed.
